Future

My graduation is coming up. Twelve years of school are finally coming to an end and I am to decide what I want to do with my life. Those who know me personally know that I can't stop talking about to things: studying photography and Paris. You see, I've wanted to do photography fulltime for almost 3 years now but held it off due to studies. And now, I have the opportunity to do so. However, I'd really like to move to Paris and practice my french for a while. I constantly switch between these options.

It's funny, you spend so much time talking about what you're going to do with the future, but when it's drawing closer you honestly don't know what to do.

What are you guys doing this year?

Edit: The problem, if I were to study photography in paris, is that it's expensive. The education I'd like to pursue in Sweden (Gamleby Fotoskola) is for free. And, I don't think my french is good to enough to just jump onto a french education.

Why not study photography in Paris? Or study french and work on photography on the side. I can only imagine speaking French is a wonderful asset as I am guessing you'll be leaning more towards the fashion side of photography?

To veronica: Studying fashion photography in Paris is very expensive whereas in Sweden, it's free. I can't afford to do long-term photography studies in France, just a few months of french :(

I'm studying photography in Norway. I don't regret it. Or.. if I could redecide, I would take a year off studies and save up money for travelling, then start here this fall.

Just nu varvar jag dagarna med plugg och jobb. Pluggar gör jag bara "för att", för att hålla igång huvudet. Men jag hoppas att jag ska kunna resa så mycket som möjligt, leva på att författa och att va konstnär, för att så småningom bosätta mig utomlands.

Jag hoppas du kommer på vad du vill göra och att det går hela vägen!

It's not really free to study Photorephy it in Sweden either since most schools (that are worth going to) have quite big entrence fees. Although, it's easier to get a student loan than it would be if you studied in Paris.

Anyways, I know exactly how you feel since I'm in pretty much the same position myself. Because I don't know what I want to do with my life I have decided to take a year where I only work/travel first and then I'll try to figure out what I want to do.

Det krävs sjukt mycket jobb och engagemang för att få ett företag att rulla. Och det är sjukt roligt! Men - när man väl efter allt slit väl börjat på snurr på verksamheten känns det nästan omöjligt, och framför allt ONÖDIGT, att lägga ned det för att ta ett "sabbatsår" sedan... Så jag tycker du borde åka till Paris först, sedan har du hela livet på dig att fota!

I understand how you feel,, I'm in the same position as you are,, the thing is I've graduated school last year and decided I would take a gap year and study business this fall in Jönköping,, but now I realised I'm not even into business at all and the only thing I wanna do is photography,, but I can't just simply choose to study photography since my dad is against it, he wants me to at least get a solid degree in something other than photography so if photography doesn't work out I would have something as a back up plan,, and even myself, i'm doubtful to how I would succeed in photography world given that there isn't a big photography market in Sweden,, =(

Ja, det suger något enormt hur dyrt det ska vara att plugga i andra länder. Irland har dock gratis skolavgift även de, så där ska jag plugga universitet! Den knasiga engelskan får man väl helt enkelt stå ut med antar jag.

Of all things, I'm moving from Stavanger, Norway to Manchester, England, to study History and American Studies. Why Manchester? Because it's not Stavanger :D
