This is Zanzibar

Say hi to Zanzibar! The little fellow that recently settled down in the Bergenwall residence, or well it was actually yesterday. He has already chewed on three of my shoes (luckily none of them were my precious high heels), taken a leak on my floor and kept me awake through the whole night by whimpering sadly and next second rolling around barking and chewing on, once again, one of my shoes. But I forgive him. He's one of the lovliest dogs I've met. Welcome home Zanzibar!

Je veux te voir

As I mentioned earlier I have LOADS of decent outtakes from the shoot Korp so I will give you some examples as I finish retouching them. Here's two of them. I tried a more colorful retouching, not sure about it tough. I feel like it's too much green, or it might be me having a hard time with green, I generally don't use that color.

And I'm very very sorry about the lack of updates. I haven't been shooting for a while but I am currently planning some oh so exciting shoots. Alright guys? You readers pretty much freaking awesome and I'm so sorry that you have to wait. Have a bit of patience for a while, will you? xx

Take me to the riot

My little sister is one of the favorite persons in front of the camera. She keeps bugging me about taking her picture over and over again, okay she's not bugging me, I quite like it. Today I was thinking about wanting to do this big native american inspired editorial so I tried some out on her. She's like the best model ever.

Dog days

It's been one year since we had to put our old dog Skrållan down. Whenever I think about it I get all messed up, it's inexplicable hard parting from a dog you had since you were seven. But recently we decided that it's time for a new dog, the house feels kind of empty without it. So we went to the outskirts of the outskirts of Örebro to look at some Border Collie/Sibirian Husky puppies and by heavens I do not regret it.

So here we were at the place where they had the most amazing little dogs ever.

I fell for these two boys and I thought that I couldn't possibly choose between them.

But eventually I picked this boy. He has one blue eye and one brown. Very very cute.
So next weekend I will be picking him up to take him with me home to Uppsala. I'm really really excited to have a dog again.

Wounded Rhymes

Been looking at upcoming albums of 2011. And IT LOOKS AMAZING. My heart sort of skips a beat when looking at the bands and artists. The ones I'm looking forward to the most is Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Radiohead, Cut Copy, Bon Iver, White Lies, Coldplay, Patrick Wolf, Iron & Wine, Lady Gaga and Lykke Li. Lykke Li's newly released singles sound really good. I always find myself drumming my fingers against the table when listening to Get Some.

My hands still shiver from the very thought of it

To be honest, I don't like to show people unedited photos. It feels sort of like I'm showing incompleted work. Like the beginnings of an artwork that is not to be seen until completed. But I'll make an exception since I'm working on a lot of stuff that I can't show you guys right now. This is from last spring, the colours looked really good, even in the camera. By heavens, I love sunshine.

Untrust us

This shoot was ridiculously funny to shoot, mostly thanks to the very amusing team. But it turned out pretty good I think! Me and David took turns taking photos and I can tell you that they turned out completely different although we had the same equipment, models, styling and make-up. Funny thing that, creativity. Anyway, thanks loads to the team: David, Josefin, Daniel, and Mewita.

Also, thanks to Ungdomens hus for letting us borrow their locale.

Oh, photoshop

I have a sort of love and hate relationship with photoshop. After the last story I couldn't stand looking at the screen anymore so I had to take a break from Photoshop. But when I look at before and after photoshop I get really happy, although it's a lot of hard work. The differences are better shown when shown larger than this, however this blog doesn't allow more than 700px in width. So we'll have to do with this.

How do you feel about photoshop? Like it? Hate it?

The 10 best albums of 2010

#1. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

"Now you're knocking at the door, saying please come out against the night. But I would rather be alone than pretend I feel alright."
"We used to sleep at night before the flashing lights settled deep in my brain."
First I didn't really feel much for this album. Didn't really get  the hype about it. Now, I adore it, I love it. The more you listen to it the more perfection it has. Arcade fire has outdone themselves.

#2. Yeasayer - Odd Blood

"There's no mistaking that Rome's gonna be mine. It's just a matter of time."
"Now, the world can be an unfair place at times. But your lows will have their complement of highs."

I saw these guys at Arvikafestivalen during the summer of 2010. And although many said it wasn't that good of a performance, I, was excited to the point that I couldn't stop singing Rome's gonna be mind in my head for quite a while afterwards. Brilliant. My favorite songs are: Rome, Mondegreen and Ambling Alp

#3. Two Door Cinema Club - Tourist History

"I tried to find a quiet place that we could go, to help you make decisions. But I didn't find it easy to tell them apart, with double vision."
"Let's make this happen, girl you gonna show the world that something good can work and it can work for you. And you know that it will. "

So this album is reeeeally catchy. I put it on whenever I feel like dancing. So sad I missed them at Emmaboda but I really hope I'll get another chance! My favorite songs are: What You Know, Eat That Up It's Good For You and Something Good Can Work

#4. Laura Marling - I Speak Because I Can

"Hold your devil by his spoke and spin him to the ground."
"Winter was on us, at the end of my nose, but I never love England more than when covered in snow."

Laura, Laura, Laura. I was obsessed by her new album when it was released and it's bloody brilliant. Especially the song Devil's Spoke, so wicked, so pretty. By all means, listen. The album is... well just listen!! My favorite songs are: Devil's Spoke, Alpha Shallows and Goodbye England (Covered in Snow)

#5. Vampire Weekend - Contra

"You walk each day in passing the elderly sales clerk. With eyes full of suspicion the whole corporation’s giving it permission."
"When I was 17 I had wrists like steel and I felt complete. And now my body fades, behind my brass charade."

Big fan of Vampire Weekend. They all look so cute on stage. And of course their music is quite cute too. Not to talk about how happy it makes me. It makes me think of summer, festivals and loads of fun. Favorite songs are: Giving Up The Gun, Cousins and White Sky.

#6. Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

"Seeing the monsters have lingered from the past. And a great bird is flying away. From our family tree. Something wrong with me."
"The only words that I could think of: I'm pissing my life away in the form of a song on my way back home."

All I do is talk about live performances but when I think of Band of Horses I think of the lead singer Ben Bridwell wearing a cowboy hat and being very cowboyish, without being tacky (!!). I swear. I kinda fell a little bit for him. Might be just because of his singing and the guitar, yeah we'll say that. And oh, the new album's great. My favorites: Infinite Arms, Laredo and On My Way Back Home.

#7. Jónsi - Go

"You wish fire, would die and turn colder. You wish, your love, could see you grow older. We should always know that we can do anything."
"You'll know, when's time to go on. You really want to grow and grow till tall."

I love Sigur Rós so very much. So when Jónsi the lead singer announced that he would be releasing an album I was beyond happy. And although it can not be compared to the full crew Sigur Rós making magic it was still very very good. Favorite songs: Go Do, Animal Arithmetic and Grow Till Tall

#8. Stars - The Five Ghosts

"I was only a girl when I wore those clothes. I was unfaithful, I lived as I chose. I want only to haunt you. But you're never there."
"Sleep now and dream of who you'll be. But will you actually be anyone?"

I always had this thing for Stars, a little bit because of the simple name (which involves some good music and not, as one might think, super tacky music) and a very big bit because of their pretty lyrics mixed with soft beats. And also because of the brilliant combination of the voices of Amy Milan and Torquil Campbell. This album isn't as good as Set Yourself on Fire or Heart (<3) but it's still very good. My favorite songs are: "Dead Hearts, I died so I Could Haunt You and We Don't Want your Body.

#9. Bombay Bicycle Club - Flaws

"Waking sitting up right can't explain the sunlight, wondering why you're not home. Girl I go beside you, left before you tried to work out all the unknowns."
"And I must wait untill I've found the ground that you are walking on."
This is one of the regular albums I listen till when I'm retouching. It's easy. It's not very catchy. But oh so pretty.
My favorite songs: Rinse Me Down, Ivy & Gold and Jewel.

#10. Robyn - Body Talk

"Let go, you're killing me. Calm down, you're killing me. My god, you're killing me."
"Just don't fall recklessly, headlessly in love with me. Cause its gonna be all heartbreak blissfully painful and insanity."

When Robyn announced in the end of 2009 that she would be releasing three albums during the approaching year I laughed. Now I don't. I listen. And Robyn, you've gone far from singing "Du kommer alltid bli nummer ett!" and I thank you for that. And for Body Talk as well. My favorite songs: Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do, Hang With Me and Indestructible.

And with Robyn I end my resumé of 2010's albums. Music-wise 2010 wasn't as good as 2009 but it still was a good year. Looking forward to see what 2011 brings.

And yes, there was a lot of albums I didn't mention but liked very much. Listen to all of them HERE

Korp

And it's on. This is the fashion editorial I shot for Modette together with their Fashion editor and also my fab friend Josefin. We all put in lots and lots of hard work to make this editorial come true and I am very very happy with  the people that were involved in this shoot, thank you! I hope that you like it, I do. Also, I will be publishing some outtakes that I liked but didn't make it into the editorial as well during the next couple of days, since I have a lot of photos from this session that I'd like to show you.

The editorial I shot can also be seen here

Before the flashing lights settled deep in my brain

Uh, today I was supposed to publish something really really fancy but it'll have to wait to tomorrow due to several different reasons. Here's a couple of old photos re-edited.

Sort of the christmas presents to myself and from others you know

I thought that I should introduce you to the stuff I got or bought for myself around christmas! Here's the jacket I bought. A simple military inspired jacket. I've wanted one for a while.

This is a Christmas present from mum and dad. Nick Knight's book with photos, photos and photos.

I mean look, that is HOLY MACARONI. If I was the one who shot this I'd be the luckiest girl (or perhaps photographer) in the world.

I got this book a little bit earlier. It's Tim Walker's book. He's splendid too! This book is just pure eyecandy.

Also I bought these shoes from Nelly. I'm not that fond of Nelly at all but these shoes were dead cheap and I just pushed the "buy now" button. I quite like them. They were prettier in reality, much prettier. Going to wear them lots for spring. I also ordered a certain pair of shoes from Jeffrey Campbell which will be arriving very very soon. Super excited!!

Don't ask what I'm doing with my hand pffft. Anyway the sweater in the picture might be the cosiest ever. Bought it at Weekday. I'm a little bit on the soft side when it comes to Weekday, their clothes is way much better than any other shop's in the budget class (not when we're talking clothes in general, I'm a big fan of Acne, Alexander McQueen and Rick Owens but my wallet simply isn't).

And OH, tomorrow I will be publishing an editorial I've been dyying to publish. (I love it. Really.)

Åh, Stockholm

So we were in Sthlm yesterday to do some shopping, the sale right now is insane. We met Josefin for a minute or two who was busy working at Modette. She's fab.

Then we went through Drottninggatan all the way to Beyond Retro. I didn't buy anything there but I found this amazing jacket at H&M (I intended to buy it before but I thought it was a bit too expensive but then it was marked down from 1000 kr to 150 kr... super amazing).

We ate dinner at Wagamama and sort of celebrated Philip's birthday. He turned seventeen. And his present was oh so amazing. An autograph from Maria Montazami (I swear he is her biggest fan). We ate at Wagamama. So recommended! The staff was really pleasant and the food was.. wickedly tasty.

I bought a dress at Urban Outfitters! It's marvelous. Not in any fancy way but you know, but it's kinda the perfect flowery dress. The picture doesn't make the dress justice though. I'll show you tomorrow.

Ask me anything / FORMSPRING

I can help but notice that a lot of you ask questions about different stuff in my blog and I can help but realise that I'm really bad at answering them. So, I made a desicion to create a formspring account so you can be sure to have your question answered!

2010

2010 is over. And it was pretty much amazing when I think back on it.

I've traveled, to Paris, to London, across Europe, to Morocco and to Heidelberg. I've seen Muse live at Wembley, which is one of the things I dreamed about doing someday and it became reality.
I've had so many photo shoots and I've taken so many pictures with my camera that my harddrive is totally overloaded. The amount of photo shoot has allowed me to gain experience within the area and I feel a lot more confident behind the camera, although I still have so much to learn it feels overwhelming. It also gave me the opportunity to work with new talented people, which is pretty much splendid.
I've had lots of amazing readers!! Thank you for reading my blog and looking at my photos, that means a lot, truly.
I've survived another year in school, which is totally worth celebrating.
I've had a great and really eventful new years. Which I spent with some of the greatest people ever (thanks for the fabulous dinner!).

Simply said, I've had a great 2010. But 2011 will be better.
